Suluban House

About the project
At Paz Studio, we envisioned Suluban House as a soulful bridge between the sun-drenched cliffs of Bali and the timeless, weathered elegance of a Rustic European Farmhouse. The architecture is a study in organic warmth, where heavy, exposed timber beams and cream-toned plaster create a structural rhythm that feels both ancient and effortless. We anchored the living spaces with tactile, heritage-inspired elements—from the oversized, raw-edged mirrors and reclaimed wood dining tables to the antique-style lanterns that hang from thick jute ropes, casting a soft, nostalgic glow over the limestone floors.
The heart of the home is designed for the slow rituals of a country estate, reimagined for a tropical climate. In the kitchen, we paired custom honey-toned cabinetry with aged ceramic vessels and bronze fixtures to evoke a sense of “lived-in” history. This narrative of rustic luxury extends upward to the semi-outdoor terraces, where built-in stone seating and dark-stained decking overlook the lush canopy, providing a secluded space for reflection under the sloped architectural rooflines.
Every detail in Suluban House is an intentional celebration of the handmade and the natural. We utilized sculptural, curved staircases and arched transitions to soften the home’s profile, while massive clay amphorae and dried botanical arrangements bring the stillness of the earth indoors. For Paz Studio, this project is a testament to the beauty of imperfection—a sanctuary built from stone, wood, and light that honors the simplicity of farmhouse living within a vibrant tropical landscape.
