When we first envisioned Semat Apartment, our goal was to create more than just a living space; we wanted to build a contemporary sanctuary that felt both grounded and elevated. We began by layering textures that speak to the senses—combining the raw, honest edge of industrial steel with the soft, tactile warmth of lime-wash walls. For us, this project was about finding that perfect “sweet spot” where modern architectural lines meet the organic soul of the tropics.

Inside, we focused on the beauty of the “handmade.” We curated every corner to tell a story of craftsmanship, from the custom reclaimed timber vanities to the intricate herringbone tiling that defines the kitchen’s character. We designed the mezzanine and high ceilings to act as a canvas for natural light, ensuring that as the sun moves, the shadows play across the white concrete and artisanal woodwork, changing the mood of the home throughout the day.

The heart of the experience, however, is the seamless flow we created between the interior and the garden. By using expansive black-steel framed doors, we allowed the lush greenery to step inside, effectively dissolving the boundaries between the home and nature.
