At PAZ Studio Bali, we create architecture and interiors that respond to climate, culture, and the aspirations of those who inhabit them — shaping spaces that are both inspiring and deeply functional.

Ukiyo II

About the project

Ukiyo is a residential interior design project in Bali inspired by Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy. Rooted in simplicity, material honesty, and spatial stillness, the design embraces imperfection and natural texture as its primary aesthetic language.

The interior composition is defined by raw timber, textured plaster walls, terrazzo surfaces, and soft neutral fabrics. A muted palette of warm earth tones, charcoal, stone, and aged wood creates a calm and contemplative atmosphere. Natural light filters through overhead skylights and lattice screens, casting shifting shadows that transform the space throughout the day.

Built in seating, low timber tables, and grounded furniture arrangements reinforce a sense of intimacy and proportion. Every element was carefully selected to support quiet living, where space is experienced rather than decorated. The design avoids excess, allowing material depth and architectural lines to carry visual weight.

Ukiyo reflects Paz Studio Bali’s approach to Japanese inspired interior design in Bali. Thoughtful, restrained, and deeply connected to light, texture, and environment.
